GMT Strengthens Leadership with New Executives and Reports Strong Momentum

41% year-to-date sales growth puts GMT on pace for its best financial performance

Norcross, Ga. - October 30, 2006 - GMT Corp., an industry leader in enterprise workforce and resource optimization solutions, today announced launching a new chapter in the company's history with the appointment of several key executives to help manage GMT's rapid growth and industry leadership. The new executives have already helped sharpen the company's growth strategy, developed GMT's human capital, implemented scalable processes, and signed notable new blue-chip customers, among other contributions.

At the start of the year, GMT recruited Simon Angove as its new chief executive officer, who brings deep experience in enterprise software to the company. Angove was most recently co-founder and president of Brickstream Corp., a business intelligence company, as well as co-founder of a-Services, one of the pioneering application service providers (ASP). Angove, in turn, made other strategic hires that include notable veterans in workforce optimization and enterprise software, including:

  • Edward Boyle, vice president of engineering, has a Ph.D. in engineering software and over 20 years of software development experience, including previous vice president positions at SMS.ac, iMotors, Autodesk, and others. He is tasked with accelerating the introduction of innovative products.
  • George Glinsky, vice president of professional services, brings 20 years of professional services experience, including management consulting and software design and implementation with companies such as Brickstream Corp., Bridge Consulting, Kurt Salomon Associates, and others. He will help GMT ensure customers receive the quality support they need to be successful.
  • Leo Toledo, vice president of contact center sales, has over 35 years of communications/call center and workforce management experience with companies such as Blue Pumpkin, Knowlagent, IEX, AT&T, and others. He will lead GMT's growth in the contact center market.
  • Randy Wardwell, vice president of retail banking sales, carries a 25-year track record of success with companies such as Brickstream, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, NCR, and others, including six years with S1 Corporation, a leader in banking software solutions. He will lead GMT's growth in the retail banking market.

As the only proven enterprise-wide solutions provider in its industry, GMT is poised to extend its reputation for accurate, easy and affordable solutions - whether for contact centers, back offices, or retail bank branches. GMT's momentum is propelled by some of the world's most respected companies that entrust GMT for its workforce and resource optimization needs, including 12 of the top 20 largest North American retail banks.

"Whether they're retail banks or contact centers, many organizations already have basic workforce and resource management systems in place," said Jerry Silva, research director for the Delivery Channels and Retail Banking practices at TowerGroup. "But they now need to take the next step and expand those systems enterprise-wide for greater visibility and results. We would advise those organizations to look towards vendors with mature solutions and an established track record in enterprise-wide deployments, connecting the different business parts from the back offices to the frontlines of customer service."

GMT has extended its track record by signing on several new customers in 2006, such as Benco, Health Plan Services, Nevada State Bank, StarOne Credit Union, Vectra Bank of Colorado, and others; and existing customers have also returned to make additional GMT investments, including First Tennessee Bank, Duluth Trading, and others. With a high caliber, experienced leadership team and aggressive focus on strategic markets such as contact centers, retail banking, and back office, GMT is on target to record its best financial year in company history, with a 41% increase in year-to-date sales, including 88% growth in the third 2006 quarter, over the same period last year.

GMT also opened an office in India for research and development as well as to support sales and services in the emerging region, and it has expanded its other global offices in the UK and Australia. Its strengthened alliance program has attracted tier-one technology partners, some of whom will be announced shortly, to expand its solutions capabilities. Further, GMT will soon be announcing highly-anticipated versions of GMT Planet and GMT CashMaster, as the company continues to evolve its core offerings to help customers better meet current and future needs.

GMT co-founder Roger Avats continues to guide the company as president and chairman of the board, with co-founder Michael Podrazhansky as GMT's chief technology officer. "Roger and Mike are invaluable to GMT's industry leadership," said Angove. "Mike's story is similar to that of Bill Gates or Steve Jobs in that he started this multi-million dollar global company at a very young age. His energy and vision, coupled with Roger's strong business sense, helped to make GMT profitable from its start - never needing any outside funding - and rapidly grow in all areas. Together, we and our other new executives are ready to take GMT to even greater heights."
